Thank you for booking into 11 Plus Pod's Mock Exam day(s). Below, we have tried to cover all queries you might have, but if we have missed something, please do not hesitate to contact us with your query.
What are the benefits of attending a Mock Exam?
A big part of success in any exam is experience, keeping calm on the day and performing to the best of one’s ability.
11 Plus Pod's Mock Exam days can help with overcoming exam day nerves, building confidence, perfecting exam technique and highlighting any aspect of exam conditions that may cause your child worry:
distractions from other students (coughing, sneezing, making noises, fidgeting, leaving the hall etc.)
distractions by invigilators (walking past, whispering, moving papers)
filling in personal info and student number
reading and/or listening to instructions etc.
management of toilet breaks
time management (completing exams in the allotted time)
working in an unfamiliar environment with people they don't know
Can my child attend more than one Mock Exam?
Yes. It can be beneficial to do so, but it is very much a personal choice. If you choose to do more than one, this can provide an opportunity for your child to familiarise themselves with the process on the first occasion and then to have another opportunity to build on aspects that may have been highlighted as areas for improvement. 11 Plus Pod will be publishing seven unique sets of exam papers for 2024 so your child can attend a maximum of seven 11 Plus Pod Mock Exam Days.
Are different test papers used in each Mock Exam?
Seven sets of unique papers will be used - a different set for each mock exam. These papers have been produced by 11 Plus Pod and are not available elsewhere. Each set of papers is in standard format (not multiple choice) and consists of an ENGLISH paper, which includes comprehension and a continuous writing element (1 hour + 10 minutes reading time); and a MATHS paper (1 hour).
What is the structure of the Mock Exam Day?
09:00 Session opens - Student Registration
09:30 Test: English - Comprehension & Writing
10:40 Break - 20 minutes
11:00 Test: Maths
12:15-12:15 - Collection
* Please note - timings may vary slightly from those indicated, but start and finish times will remain the same.
When can we expect to receive the results?
The mock test papers will be marked and returned to you by the following Monday when the exam falls on a Sunday (or Wednesday if the exam falls on a Tuesday). They can be collected in person, sent electronically or posted back to you, so you can go through each test at home with your child. Please do NOT email or call requesting the results prior to this date.
The results provided will show:
Raw score & percentage for the English and Maths paper
Your child's rank for each paper (based on gender and overall)
Your child's overall percentage
Weighted score following the formula applied by the CSSE (not including age-weighting)
Explanations for each question by way of a mark scheme to help you review the test with your child.
Video work-throughs for both papers - the links will be emailed 10 days after the test has taken place.
What is the refund/cancellation/amendment policy?
We reserve the right to charge an Administration Fee of £10 for any amendments to a booking.
Mock Exam Bookings can be changed to a different date up to 14 days prior to the scheduled mock exam session originally booked. Date changes are subject to availability and will incur an amendment fee of £10 for each session change.
Mock Exam Bookings can be cancelled up to 14 days prior to the scheduled mock exam session, subject to a cancellation fee of £15 for each mock exam session. The balance of the price paid will be refunded to the card used to make the original booking.
Since spaces are limited, any cancellations made later than 14 days prior to the scheduled mock session are NON-REFUNDABLE. We regret that we cannot refund session bookings within the 14 day period prior to a mock exam day unless the test day in question is cancelled by us or details of the test day are significantly changed by us (for example – time, area, date etc.).
On the day of the Mock Exam
What does my child need to bring to the Mock Exam?
Please ensure your child arrives with a few pencils, a pen, a ruler, a good eraser and well rested. Stationery should be carried into the exam room in a clear plastic pencil case/bag.
There is a 20 minute break during which your child will have a chance to step outside the exam room, take a quick toilet break and enjoy a drink and/or snack. Students may bring a packed snack and drink to have during the short break.
What proof of booking do we need to bring?
Please bring along a copy of your booking confirmation email.
What time should we arrive?
Registration opens promptly at 09:00, so please ensure you are there on time. Please allow time to locate the venue, park and make your way to the registration point. All of these details will be sent to you prior to the test date.
Can I wait at the test centre while my child sits the exam?
Unfortunately, there are no facilities available at the test centre for parents to wait, but we will be happy to direct you to nearby coffee shops or restaurants.
Can I accompany my child into the exam room?
You will not be allowed to take your child into the exam room. Once they have been registered by 11 Plus Pod personnel, the children will wait to be accompanied to the exam room by us. This will be similar to their experience on the actual exam day.
Can I see my child during their break?
Unfortunately not, as this may cause disruption to the flow of the session. So we ask that parents do NOT return until the end of the session.
